My goal with every single shoot is to preserve your unique relationship in its most authentic and adventurous form, creating memories that resonate and stories that last a lifetime. After all, you only get one life, so fucking live it 🤘🏼
But my passion doesn’t stop there. I also love sharing my expertise and insights with fellow photographers, helping them grow and elevate their craft. Whether it’s through mentorship, behind-the-scenes guidance, or sharing tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years, I’m here to support others in capturing moments that matter just as much. Let’s create, learn, and live boldly—together.
As photographers, we juggle SO MANY different tasks—shoots, editing marathons, client meetings, and the endless stream of emails!
Trust me, I get it; managing all of this can feel like trying to catch a thousand butterflies at once!
That’s why having a well-structured schedule isn’t just a good idea—it’s a GAME-CHANGER!
Here’s how I keep my photography business running smoothly without losing my mind (most of the time).
First things first: figure out what absolutely needs to get done each week. For me, this means scheduling my shoots, blocking out time for editing, and setting aside moments for client consultations. Knowing what’s essential helps me avoid the dreaded last-minute scramble.
Pro Tip: I like to dedicate specific days to specific tasks. Mondays might be all about editing, while Wednesdays are for client meetings. This way, I’m not constantly switching gears, and I can dive deep into whatever I’m working on.
Helpful Tool: Here’s a little nugget of wisdom—using a digital planner designed just for us photographers has been a GAME-CHANGER for me! It’s perfect for keeping track of my shoots, deadlines, and everything in between. If you’re looking to streamline your planning, this kind of planner might just be your new best friend. It’s made such a difference in my workflow! Check it here.
Automation is your BEST FRIEND when it comes to saving time! Set up email templates for common client interactions, automate your social media posts, and use software to handle your accounting. TRUST ME, once you get these processes in place, you’ll wonder how you ever managed without them!
Pro Tip: I use tools like HoneyBook for client management, QuickBooks for accounting, and Metricool for scheduling social media posts. They help me keep everything running smoothly without constantly juggling tasks. If you’re curious about how to get started with these tools and others like them, check out my blog about automation tools for photographers. It’s packed with insights and tips on how to streamline your workflow and make your life a whole lot easier!
And here’s a little secret: One of my FAVORITE time-saving hacks is using pre-written email templates. They’re perfect for handling routine client interactions and keeping your communication professional and consistent. I’ve created a range of email templates specifically for photographers, available in my Etsy shop. These templates are crafted to streamline your workflow and make client communication effortless. PS: I use the same email templates for my photography business!
But that’s not all! My shop is full of other resources designed to make your photography business run smoother. Take a look around and see what else might be a perfect fit for your needs. Whether it’s more templates, guides, or tools, there’s something there to help you WORK SMARTER, NOT HARDER!
A physical calendar can be a game-changer. Having a giant calendar hanging in my office keeps everything in view and helps me stay organized. It’s not just about keeping track of dates; it’s about having a clear visual reminder of what’s coming up and what’s on my plate.
Pro Tip: I find it INCREDIBLY HELPFUL to write down all my key appointments, shoot dates, and deadlines on my big calendar. It’s a fantastic way to see everything at a glance and prevent any scheduling conflicts. If you’re someone who prefers a hands-on approach, consider using a physical calendar in your workspace. You might be surprised at how much easier it is to manage your time when you have a tangible overview!
Let’s be real: the hustle is real, and it can be easy to burn out if you’re not careful. That’s why I make it a point to schedule time for myself, too. Whether it’s a walk, a workout, or just a quiet cup of coffee, taking time to recharge is crucial for keeping your creative energy flowing.
What I Do: I block out at least one afternoon a week for myself—whether it’s a relaxing walk, a workout, or simply enjoying a quiet cup of coffee. It’s crucial to recharge and keep your creative energy flowing. Alongside this, I add buffer time to my schedule to manage any unexpected delays. For example, I leave a day or two between deadlines and client reviews. This way, if something doesn’t go as planned, I’m not scrambling to catch up. It helps me stay organized, stress-free, and ready to tackle the next project with fresh energy!
Finally, I always take a little time at the end of each week to review how things went. Did I stick to my schedule? What worked? What didn’t? This reflection helps me tweak my approach so that I’m constantly improving my workflow.
Optimize Your Workflow: If you’re finding yourself spending too much time editing photos, it might be worth looking into optimizing your process. For instance, I’ve put together a Mastering Lightroom Workflow course specifically designed to help photographers streamline their editing. This course is PERFECT for anyone who feels bogged down by inefficient practices and wants to spend less time on their computer and more time doing what they love.
By refining your workflow, you can SAVE TIME and enhance the quality of your work, making your overall process smoother and more effective!
