My goal with every single shoot is to preserve your unique relationship in its most authentic and adventurous form, creating memories that resonate and stories that last a lifetime. After all, you only get one life, so fucking live it 🤘🏼
But my passion doesn’t stop there. I also love sharing my expertise and insights with fellow photographers, helping them grow and elevate their craft. Whether it’s through mentorship, behind-the-scenes guidance, or sharing tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years, I’m here to support others in capturing moments that matter just as much. Let’s create, learn, and live boldly—together.
Wedding planning usually becomes very real the moment couples start talking about where the first reaction should happen, at the aisle in front of everyone, or in a quieter first look just for the two of them or with their families.
One second it is table plans and timelines, the next it is them pausing mid-conversation imagining it. Standing at the end of the aisle with everyone already turned around. Or tucked away somewhere quiet, seeing each other before anything begins, no eyes, no waiting, just that first glance.
As a photographer, I have seen the difference between the two through my lens, especially in how couples experience those first moments together. In this blog, we go through both sides of the decision, tradition and intimacy, and what each one feels like on the wedding day.
For some couples, waiting for the aisle is what makes that first moment feel more special than anything before it. It is also the part that stays closest to tradition, where the ceremony itself is designed as the first time they see each other.

That tradition comes from how weddings are structured around a single reveal. Everything stays separate until the ceremony begins, and the first meeting happens at the aisle in front of everyone.
There is a certain anticipation that builds because of that. Separate preparations, guests settling in, and everything leading toward that walk.
Why couples choose this:
It is a familiar approach, and many couples choose it because that first moment is shared in the same space, with everyone present to see it happen.
In a lot of weddings, that moment becomes more than just a first look. Couples talk, some exchange personal vows, and in many cases there are also different first looks before the ceremony begins, such as:

These are often private moments where reactions happen in smaller groups instead of all at once during the ceremony.
At the end of the day, choosing between a traditional ceremony or a first look comes down to how you want to experience those first emotional moments.
Some couples prefer to keep everything building toward the aisle, where the reaction happens once, in front of everyone, all at the same time. Others prefer to have those moments unfold earlier in smaller, quieter ways, so they can walk into the ceremony feeling more settled.
It can help to think about what you want to remember most. Whether it is that single moment at the aisle with everyone watching, or the smaller private moments shared before the ceremony begins.
There is no better option. Just a different way of experiencing the same day, and both carry their own meaning in the memories that stay after.
If you’re looking for a photographer to capture your first look, whether it happens before the ceremony or at the aisle, I’d love to be there for it!
